Cabin

Ron & Karen’s cabin is constructed entirely of fire killed ponderosa pine from the Kaibab National Forest. All milling was done by Bruce Chappell’s Thousand Lakes Timber Products in Lyman, Utah. All finished timber materials were delivered by Roger Black Trucking. The 12″ logs were stacked, roof joists, rafters, T&G, insulation and roofing installed by Steve Blackburn’s Back Country Builders of Heber City, Utah.

The interior and exterior stain was applied by the Neisler’s good friend, Doug Varney. The stain is Menwood 200 on the exterior and Danish oil on the interior. The color is a custom blend of Menwood’s Chestnut and Harvest Gold. Doug also did the framing, drywall, the exterior railing and too many other backbreaking jobs to list.

The Heating system is a Coleman 93% efficient 100,000 BTU propane central furnace system installed by Ron Garrett of Welch Heating of Taylorsville, Utah. The furnace is augmented by a Yotul 600 series freestanding propane stove/fireplace that puts out up to 40,000 BTUs of heat.

The electrical is by Dewey Jessen Electric of Talmadge, Utah. Dewey is also responsible for Ron getting his buck during 2005’s deer hunt.

The plumbing is by Loren Long Plumbing of roosevelt, Utah.

Karen and our sons Mark, David & his wife Kristen, and our daughter Bekah and her husband Ben all contributed many hours to the structure. There have been many others who “volunteered” their time and labors and their work has been greatly appreciated.I, as chief architect and general contractor, managed to spend most of my time in supervisory positions.
